Q1. If my first choice of a name is not available, what should I do?

CECOR will provide you with a NUANS printout as a result of your initial search. This will list Trade Names and Trade Marks which are similar to your proposed name. We will work with you, and will use this printout to determine how to modify your proposed name to make it acceptable.

Q2. I am not sure what name I want for my corporation. What should I do?

Discuss it with us so we can help you.

Q3. My corporation is small. Do I need my own domain name?

Not necessarily, but there are significant benefits to having one. For example,

e-mail is rapidly becoming the preferred means of communications for business. Having your own domain name for your corporate e-mail address, as for example john@johns_company.com, is a much better marketing tool than using somebody else’s domain name, such as john@some_other_company.com

should you ever become dissatisfied with your Internet service provider, having your own domain name will let you change to another service provider without changing your e-mail address or the URL of your web site. Using your service provider’s domain name would require a change in both your e-mail address and URL. This disruption in your business would be analogous to simultaneously changing your corporate name, phone number, fax number and street address in the traditional world.

Q4. I agree on the need for my own domain name. When should I get one?

Available domain names are being depleted at an increasing rate. Thus, we suggest that you register a domain name now if you think your business will ever require one. The choices really exist after you have your own domain name, and depend on your business plan:

If you do not have an immediate requirement for a web site, registration of a domain name to ensure its availability later may be sufficient. However, for a small incremental cost, you can use your domain name as your e-mail address, thereby enhancing your business image.

If you require a web site initially, but lack time and money to be created while you are starting your business, our Domain-Name Web Site may provide the affordable answer. This provides you with a basic web site, under your domain name, and we do all the work for you, letting you concentrate on starting your business.

Q5. Are there any other alternatives for a web presence for my business?

Yes, there is. Every successful NUANS name search that we do entitles you to a free ebiz-page ™. Although this does not provide your visitors with as much information about your business as a Domain-Name Web Site does, it does give you an opportunity to obtain business from the web.
